Sprint - Free Accessories NOT free after all... total scam!
I purchased a new iPhone 6S+ on 04/30/2016 from the following store: Sprint PCS 1815 Hawthorne St. Suite 246 Redondo Beach, CA (310) 214-**** At the time of purchase, I was presented with a card, and told by the representative, that I was eligible for $250 worth of accessories.
I was told that there would be 12 installment payments that would show on my bill, but that there would be offsetting credits of the same amount, essentially making the accessories free. Both the card I was presented, and the assurances from the representative, were that I was receiving $250 in FREE accessories. Now, 10 months later, I have noticed that my Sprint Bill has been charged $19.19 per month since 04/30/2016. Never has there been an offsetting credit.
The reference # is COS-245-9**** #11 I requested a copy of this contract from Sprint. I received it today and the contract is with "PCS Leasing". It is basically a contract for the PURCHASE of $250 in accessories, with monthly installment payments of $19.19. The Sprint representative I spoke with was named "Jesse", and she gave me a reference # for my case of (I) 1 186 11****.
Jesse said I needed proof from the retail store that the accessories were free. I explained that the card, stating they were free, was surrendered back to the store in order to redeem the offer. Upon calling the store in Redondo Beach, CA, I was told they didn't keep records of transactions dating back to April 2016. I asked Jesse if she had dealt with similar complaints.
She said that she had, and told the complainant that they misunderstood any representations that they were getting free accessories. This is obviously a scam, repeated often.
I would have NEVER purchased accessories from a retail store as the mark-up is outrageous; I only got them because I was ASSURED THAT THEY WERE FREE! I'm not sure what the outcome of this complaint will be, but I am definitely available for any follow up inquiries.
